The wedding ceremony was on a beautiful fall day, held outdoors at the Oakes Garden Theatre and the reception held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Niagara Falls.
I first met Kasandra when I was……a newborn lol ( she is one of my older sisters). I met Peter a couple of years ago when my sister brought him to “meet the family” and I knew he was a going to be a great husband. Peter and Kasandra are the perfect match for each other in so many ways. I am so happy for them!
Since I was a guest and family member at the wedding, I didn’t photograph this one (except for a few bridal portraits shown near the bottom) but I wanted Kasandra and Peter to have this special blog that I do for all my weddings couples.
A Little More About Kasandra & Peter
How did you meet? And how long have you been together?
We went to the same college but didn’t really speak much while in college. Over the years we maintained the same circle of friends so we knew of each other. Eventually being acquaintances evolved into friendship and we quickly realized that we had an immediate comfort with each other. We dated for about a year and a half prior to engagement.
Where was your first date? What did you do?
We played mini golf, among other games like air hockey, as we are both very competitive. We then had dinner and dessert, where Kasandra delayed having her ice-cream sundae because she insisted it had to sit for a while because she prefers, “warm ice-cream.” That caused a funny moment that was among the first of thousands more.
Was it love at first sight?
The first time I saw Kasandra in college, we were both getting off a bus on the campus of Humber College. She was a few steps ahead of me and I was grateful for the distance, as it created a beautiful view of her hypnotic walk towards the campus. I was a bit of a coward so I didn’t approach her at the time. I asked a mutual friend about her, and she told me about her. I was intrigued but for whatever reason, never made a move. To say the least, years went by, like a lot of years. We both lived separate lives with separate paths. But somehow our paths were destined to cross each other. When it eventually did, on our first date, I left the mini-golf centre, after walking her to her car I said to myself, “I’m gonna marry that girl one day.” And so I did.
How and when did your fiancé propose?
He proposed about a year and a half into our courtship. We went for a weekend trip with a couple of friends to Niagara-on-the-Lake and he proposed by the water. It was a complete surprise as I thought if he was going to propose at all it would have been during dinner when I would have be dressed up.
Do you have a romantic or touching story about your relationship?
A few months before we finally went out and began dating, I (Peter) had accepted a teaching position overseas and was just a plane ticket away from teaching in Abu Dhabi, UAE for 3 long years. Being a person of faith, I prayed very intentionally about such a drastic life change. All things seemed to point towards that trip to Abu Dhabi as being a great opportunity. However, there were just a few explainable notions that steered me to the resolution that leaving then to go teach overseas was a good thing occurring at the wrong time. With no idea or thought about our paths ever crossing again, deciding to remain in Toronto, with just weeks away from the scheduled departure, was solely based on faith alone, and nothing to do with our non-existing relationship. Who would have known that decision would have lead to this? That one plane ride would have altered my entire life. I’m glad I didn’t get on that plane.Paragraph
What do you love the most about Kasandra?
I love the fact that she allows me to be me, in all that entails, good and bad. I can be an intellectual conversation starter in public, or can be an absolute buffoon in private, being silly and jovial, and all of that is still OK.
